Learn to Trust Yourself With Professional Trauma Therapy
Hey, I’m Tiffany! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and I know it’s possible to heal from the past and learn to trust yourself. Healing can happen in a safe, supportive space without having to retell your story over and over-I know this because I’ve been helping people with this for 16 years.
My Guiding Principles
I do this job because it is a calling and I can’t imagine doing anything else. (Except maybe this.) I stay motivated by all the private moments of helping each of you finally feel accepted, understood, validated, and ready for your next chapters. My job is amazing–I am a vault that holds the most amazing stories and helps everyone write the next ones.
→ Treatment shouldn’t feel worse than the trauma.
→ Magic happens when you feel understood and seen.
→ All humans are everyday miracles-priceless.
→ I will always work just as hard or harder than the person in front of me. It’s my job to lead you through the dark.
We embrace all the feels around here
Because I have helped so many people come out on the other side, I’m confident I can help you, too. Consider me your guide, because in the darkest of times it’s helpful to find someone who knows the way.
We will work together as a team to help you turn all of those ways you survived into superpowers that will help you thrive. Along the way, I hope you’ll get to know and accept all of yourself.
My Guiding Principles
My love for science and my love for people merged at a pretty young age to urge me to become a “brain-based” trauma therapist. My military background taught me not to take myself so seriously while also being on a routine.
-
I grew up on the East Coast as a military kid, graduating high school in Virginia and eventually joining the military myself.
-
I joined the Navy and specialized in computer programming (not unlike neuroscience!). I sailed the deep blue sea, had adventures including the Panama Canal and crossing the Equator, and ended up in Hawaii.
-
I left the military and received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Chaminade University in Hawaii. It was founded by monks and was an amazing and enlightening experience. I learned a lot about different cultures, spiritual practices, and religions, along with different ways of seeing the world.
-
The one constant is change; I came back to the East Coast in 2008 and while I was working on my graduate degree, I worked with women and mothers struggling with substance use issues. It was one of my favorite positions ever and I cherished it. It was hard but I loved seeing everyone healthy and happy later on.
-
While I was in that “in-between” time of after-I-graduated-but-before-I-got-licensed, I work in-home for a bit (tough!), and then worked with severely abused children as part of a Child Advocacy Center team. I also worked with people who had serious mental health issues and substance use problems.
-
I went into private practice in 2015 after I was licensed in Virginia in 2014. I have been practicing strictly virtually since 2020, and I’m currently working on TIST (Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment). I have been trained in EMDR since 2017, and specialize in using a type called Flash EMDR, which I’ve been using since 2018. In my free time, I train my 4 cats (really!), do textile art, and go to concerts and live music shows.
Let’s chat
about it
I look forward to chatting and seeing if it makes sense to move forward with a session. I am direct, honest, open, and focus on building safety and trust in the therapeutic space first.
I love to learn and will show up not just to work as hard (or harder!) than you, but I look forward to what you will teach me, too, along the way. Take care and talk soon! ~ Tiffany
