Break Toxic Patterns with Tailored Therapy
it's hard to let someone help, but you don't have to keep doing everything all by yourself. Breaking patterns, like the same toxic partners, or not taking care of your body or money, or just never being able to say no, can be hard but rewarding.
Using a tailored therapy approach, we work together to figure out where the patterns came from and how to help you free yourself from them—that ex that you keep getting back together with, the stuff that you keep putting off, or just the trauma that keeps popping up.
Embrace your story.
We work together as a team to help you address the old patterns and habits that keep showing up and help you finally feel free and let the story of your past stay there.
→ You can feel like you don't need validation from others to feel whole.
→ You can feel like you can finally start learning to listen to and trust yourself.
→ You can feel like you can finally stop taking responsibility for what isn't yours.
→ You can feel like you can stand up for yourself without feeling scared or guilty.
Hey there,
Tiffany speaking
I am Tiffany Taylor, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I am on a mission to help people heal from toxic, lonely, neglectful, or just plain crappy situations and look to developing new and amazing adventures ahead.
Believe it or not, therapy doesn’t have to feel serious all the time (but sometimes it is hard!) or make you feel like you’re worse when it’s over to help you feel better.
Sometimes the idea of therapy, or the idea of having to talk about stuff is a lot worse than the reality.
It can be a lot more bearable with someone who knows how to sit in the tough stuff with you, but then help you out of it when you need it.
I know it's not easy,
But the first step is always the hardest.
Therapy can be both so amazing and intimidating-the prospect of finally healing and feeling better! Telling a random stranger all of the hard things is hard, though-but I am here to help.

Individual therapy is $150/50 minute session. I accept many major insurance carriers, including Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna, Sentara, Carelon, and Kaiser. Check with your insurance company directly to find out about in-network coverage.
-
Book a 15 minute phone call with me and we can start off by seeing if it makes sense to move forward in scheduling a first appointment. I will talk you through the details then. Please note that you have to be in Virginia, DC, or North Carolina to work with me.
-
I use “relational” therapy—that means that more important than anything else, I feel like you should be able to feel comfortable and trust me. Above that, I use a variety of techniques.

Trauma is different than something upsetting or uncomfortable. We all have those embarrassing, sad, or just not-great memories and experiences. The thing that makes it trauma is when a situation or experience has created symptoms- like avoiding reminders, starling easily, feeling on edge all the time, waiting for “the other shoe to drop,” sleeplessness, that kind of thing.
-
It’s not unusual for trauma to affect relationships, especially if both partners have a trauma history or background. I work with a very limited number of couples to help work through the ways that mutual trauma backgrounds can affect relationships.

PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder) is best described as a “single incident” trauma, in a way. Car accident, natural disasters, witnessing or experiencing a life threatening event, are just a few examples.
Complex PTSD, however, is from ongoing, long-term types of situations. This would be a toxic or abusive relationship, abusive childhood, dysfunctional work dynamic, those types of things. Ongoing, like “death by a thousand cuts.”
A few ways
I can help
I offer individual therapy for people who are motivated to heal, looking for solid support, and understand that change takes consistency. I also offer limited spots for couples with complex PTSD/trauma, and clinical supervision for LPC residents in Virginia.
